The C2C Cycle Challenge

Depending on your starting point the Sea to Sea (C2C) cycle route is approximately 140 miles in length from Workington or Whitehaven on the Cumbrian coast to Newcastle or Sunderland on the Northumbrian side. The UK's most popular 'challenge' cycle route passes through the northern Lake District before climbing the Pennines, 'the roof of England', and then descending to the railway paths of County Durham. However you approach it this is one of, if not the best long distance cycle route in the UK.

Being 10 minutes away from arguably one of the most beautiful of the big lakes in the Lake District, Ullswater provides numerous opportunities for watersports and activities.

Climbing

The first ascent of Nape's Needle in the late 1880s is said to have been the birth of the sport of rock climbing. Fast forward 130 years and the Lake District National Park is still one of the world's best areas to get your hands on the rock. From road side bouldering to full mountain days out there are routes and locations to challenge and amaze climbers of all abilities and experience. No two days are the same which make the Lake District a must for any climber in the UK.
